San Diego New Central Library

San Diego Central LibraryThe construction for the new San Diego Central Library started in Jul 2010 and a brand new library is due to open in Jul 2013.  Designed by world-renowned architect Rob Wellington Quigley, the new nine-storey library building will be an architectural landmark.
Designed also for (probably the largest in California) LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] Silver certification, the new Central Library will be developed as a civic role model of sustainability and energy conservation.
Interestingly, the new Central Library also incorporates a new downtown charter high school which will have access to the library’s educational resources. The school will be architecturally separate with its own entrance, lobby, elevator, restrooms and ventilation system.
